HAPPENING

THURSDAY, 23RD SEPTEMBER 2010, GRACING THE COMPLETION OF ST JOSEPH RE-DEVELOPMENT PROJECT BY Y.B DATO' SRI MICHAEL MANYIN AK JAWONG, MINISTER OF INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATION SARAWAK

This ceremony is to mark the milestone achievement of Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation for the completion of St Joseph Re-Development Projects for Sabah Shell Petroleum Co Ltd.

The projects were awarded to Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation (BDEWC) on 15th May 2009 by to Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Limited (SSPC). The St Joseph Re-Development Projects comprise of a Substructure, Water Injection Topside and an 80 personnel Living Quarters Module. The project scope of work covers engineering, procurement, fabrication, inspection, testing and onshore commissioning, weighing, load out and sea fastening of Substructure, Water Injection Topside, Living Quarters, SJP-A / SJQ-A Bridge and Tie-in Modification work on existing St Joseph Complex at Sabah Offshore , 178km North East of Labuan, in a water depth of 38.7m.

The successful completion of these projects reflects the great teamwork and endeavors of all personnel involved, with Shell’s personnel always providing the guidance, particularly in areas of developing and sustaining strong health, safety and environmental culture to the team. For these projects, Brooke Dockyard have achieved accumulative 1,557,059 man hours without any Lost Time Injury.

For the past 15 years, Brooke Dockyard has indeed made itself relevant in the highly demanding oil and gas fabrication industry. Brooke Dockyard has so far completed fifteen(15) Offshore Modules, eights(8) substructures and four(4) Living Quarters.

Other clients that Brooke had served in the past include ExxonMobil, Petronas Cargali, Talisman and Murphy Sarawak Oil . Petronas and the State Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Communications have been instrumental in nurturing Brooke Dockyard to develop from a small time shiprepair corporation to being a leading offshore modules fabrication in East Malaysia.

Brooke Dockyard has set its goal to be an important regional player, especially in the engineering works of the oil and gas industry and we believe that Brooke Dockyard can continue to play an important role as well in human resource development in sarawak, particularly in the high-end engineering sector.

Besides providing a sustainable employment of around 1,200-1,500 personnel within the Demak industrial cluster, Brooke has to date trained more than 600 welders and provided training placements for university and polytechnic students.

YB Dato Sri Michael was given the honour to commission the ice cream maker machine at the Living Quarters Module as a symbolic gesture to grace the completion of St Joseph Re-Development Projects.

The three projects are targeted to be loaded-out offshore for final installation starting ends September to early October this year.
