DURIN BRIDGE COMPLETED

DURIN : 22nd September 2006 marked another major milestone for the people of Sarawak as the major link to the pan borneo coastal highway strategically located at the southern part of Sibu spanning over Batang Rajang, the long awaited Jambatan Batang Rajang (Durin), attained its practical completion.

To commemorate this accomplishment, Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works, recently held a brief drive thru ceremony cum majlis doa selamat dan kesyukuran at the bridge site, Durin.

Officiating the function was Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation’s Chairman, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Karim B. Tun Abang Haji Openg. The function is attended by Sibu UCA Chairman and community leader, Datuk Lau Cheng Kiong, JKR Federal Project Engineer, En. Ir. Abdul Aziz Ahmad, Brooke Dockyard’s CEO, Ir. Zuraimi Hj Sabki and other officials from JKR, KTA consultant and Brooke Dockyard.

Speeking at the function, Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Karim thanked all parties involved who have been committed to support the execution of the works primarily the Federal Government, State Government, JKR Federal and State, Galland, consultant, subcontractors, suppliers and Brooke Dockyard’s project personnel and workers. He commended the endurance and the resolve displayed by the site management and workers which were the key factors in ensuring the final completion of this project despite facing many difficulties and issues.
